Top Benefits of Nadi Shodhana aka Alternate Nostril Breathing

Nadi Shodhana, aka Alternate Nostril Breathing, can have amazing benefits on your body, mind, and nervous system with very little time investment. With only 10 minutes a day of this breathing practice you can:

- Infuse your body with oxygen

- Clear your respiratory channels

- Help to alleviate respiratory irritants.

- Reduce stress and anxiety

- Release toxins

- Calm your nervous system

- Balance your hormones

- Lower your blood pressure

How does something so simple give you so much benefit? The practice of Nadi Shodhana and other deep breathing practices act as an indicator for your body to slow your heartbeat and relax your nervous system. On the other hand, shallow breathing acts as an indicator to your body that you are under stress and it responds by sending out certain hormones to make your heart beat faster, your muscles tense and sharpen your reflexes. This is the stress response that saves us from danger. However, many people suffer from chronic stress and are stuck in a loop of anxiety which causes us to shallow breathe and that shallow breath tells our bodies that we are in danger and sends out the hormones.

If you'd like to learn first hand how to properly do Nadi Shodhana breathwork along with DIY Energy Healing techniques, Vinyasa Yoga, and Meditation to address chronic stress, anxiety, depression and more, I will be teaching these techniques, at my upcoming "High Vibes: Energy Work & Yoga Clinic" on April 1st in Phinney Ridge.
