From Overwhelm to Empowerment: Nurturing Your Solar Plexus Chakra

The Manipura or Solar Plexus Chakra, often regarded as the 3rd Chakra, is the seat of your inner fire and governs your strength, willpower, confidence, and sense of self. Located between the navel and sternum, just above the belly button, this energy center plays a pivotal role in your personal power.

When this chakra is out of alignment or blocked, it can result in feelings of powerlessness or a sense that others are encroaching on your personal boundaries. Physically, it might manifest as digestive issues. Trauma and stress can impact any of the 7 chakras, but the Solar Plexus Chakra can be particularly affected during overwhelming periods, leading to stagnation or an opposite state of overdrive. When this chakra lacks energy or chi, the internal fire might feel dimmed or weakened.

Signs of Imbalance and Ways to Restore Harmony:

Signs of Imbalance: A sense of powerlessness, lack of confidence, digestive issues, or feeling overwhelmed.

Restoring Balance: Practicing specific yoga poses and activities can help restore balance to the Solar Plexus Chakra. Poses like Navasana (Boat Pose), Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), and Warrior Poses (I, II, III) are beneficial in activating and strengthening this energy center. Engaging in Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations) can also invigorate the entire body, including the Solar Plexus region.

Navigating Inner Strength and Confidence:

In times of feeling overwhelmed or stressed, actively acknowledging your boundaries and desires can aid in restoring balance to the Solar Plexus Chakra. Incorporating activities like journaling, affirmations, and mindful breathing exercises can facilitate this process, nurturing a sense of inner power and confidence. Healing this energy center leads to a sense of self-assuredness, empowerment, and a renewed zest for life.

This week in class we will focus on activating your solar plexus through the yoga poses mentioned above, as well as, using a short guided hypnosis at the end of class to affirm confidence and self-worth.
