Energetically, the second chakra, known as Svadisthana, is a vital energy center that governs creativity, emotions, joy, enthusiasm, and sensuality. Located near your sacrum and hips, just below the navel, it is considered the seat of your reproductive organs. When Svadisthana energy is in balance, it allows you to access feelings of abundance, joy, and pleasure, while clearing the way for creative energy to flow freely. However, when this chakra is blocked due to emotional trauma, chronic stress, or other factors, it can result in an inability to connect with your passions, a tendency to control everything and a life that lacks zest. Additionally, a blocked sacral chakra may lead to difficulty connecting intimately and embracing deep self-love.
This week during Reiki Yoga class we will work towards opening and balancing the sacral chakra, allowing for the free flow of energy with the intent of reconnecting with your inner creativity, emotions, and sensuality.
Yoga Poses for Sacral Chakra Activation
Baddha Konasana (Butterfly Pose): Start by sitting on the floor with your feet together and knees dropped out to the sides, holding your feet with your hands. Gently flap your knees up and down, like a butterfly's wings, to release tension in the hips and groin, where the sacral chakra resides.
Upavistha Konasana (Wide-Angle Seated Forward Bend): Sit on the floor with your legs spread apart and fold forward from your hips, reaching your hands toward the floor. This pose stretches the inner thighs and groin, promoting sacral chakra balance.
Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana): Lie on your stomach, place your palms under your shoulders, and lift your chest off the ground. Arch your back while keeping your pelvis grounded to stimulate the sacral chakra and increase energy flow.
Child's Pose (Balasana): Kneel on the floor and sit back on your heels, lowering your forehead to the ground. Connect with your inner emotions and calm the mind.
Chakra Meditation and Group Energy Work:
We will further open the sacral chakra, through a chakra meditation, and incorporate a couple of key essential oils. These practices aim to help you ebb and flow through sequences designed to connect you to your inherent creativity and sensuality. Embracing these practices allows you to break free from creative blocks, emotional constraints, and regain the zest for life while fostering intimacy and self-love.
